Together Again: For the First Time is a 1978 studio album by Mel Tormé and Buddy Rich. Originally recorded and released as a direct-to-disc LP album, it was re-issued in 1999 as When I Found You by Hindsight Records with two additional Buddy Rich Big Band instrumental tracks from the same era. It's the first time they've all been in the same house at the same time since the parent's marriage seven years before-which wouldn't be a problem if they all liked each other. But they don't. And matters only get worse with the unexpected arrival of an ex-boyfriend, an unannounced live television broadcast, and the outing of well-kept family secrets. The family has not been together in years, but Audrey's audition for the possible series is a live Christmas Eve broadcast showing the family enjoying Christmas together. This will be quite a challenge. Plus there is an open house at the family home at midnight. Mel Tormé and Buddy Rich had been friends for decades prior to finally getting around to recording together. Although largely a Tormé vocal record, the Buddy Rich Orchestra, with guest altoist Phil Woods, is in top form, and the drummerleader has several solos. Most memorable is Tormé's tribute to Ella Fitzgerald on Lady Be Good and a remarkable tour-de-force on Blues in the Night. This enjoyable and somewhat historic LP, put out by Gryphon, is worthy of reissue on CD by Mobile Fidelity
