Please Please Me is the debut album by the English rock band the Beatles. Produced by George Martin, it was released on EMI's Parlophone label on 22 March 1963 in the United Kingdom, following the success of the band's singles Please Please Me and Love Me Do, which reached number 1 on the NME and Melody Maker charts and number 17 on the UK Singles Chart, respectively. The four remaining songs had been committed to tape in 1962 having formed the B-side of their debut release and both sides of their second single. A slightly later record. Please Please Me was recorded on a two-track BTR recording machine, leaving little opportunity for overdubs or elaborate arrangements. The album contained both sides of The Beatles first two singles Love Me Do, PS I Love You, Please Please Me, and Ask Me Why plus 10 new recordings made on 11 February 1963.
