Gentle Giant is the first album by British progressive rock band Gentle Giant, released in 1970. Since the LP was not originally released in the United States, the cover illustration was not available. It first appeared in the United States and Canada with the same cover as the Three Friends album. American hip-hop duo Madvillain sampled Funny Ways on Strange Ways from their album Madvillainy, which was subsequently featured in an episode of the television show The Boondocks. Gentle Giant were a British progressive rock band active between 1970 and 1980. The band was known for the complexity and sophistication of its music and for the varied musical skills of its members. All of the band members were multi-instrumentalists. Although not commercially successful, they did achieve a cult following.
