Album

Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone is the second and final studio album by Canadian indie rock band the Unicorns. It features several re-arranged versions of songs from their earlier self-released album Unicorns Are People Too. The album was first issued on CD and on vinyl in North America by Alien8 Recordings on October 21, 2003, and on CD in Europe by Rough Trade Records in 2004. It has since been repressed in limited quantities on pink and brown vinyl by Alien8 and was re-released on August 26. The album is a celebration of life with its colorful and ahead of its time lyrics and compositions. The band skillfully incorporates elements of indie rock and rudimentary electronic music in a deceptively cobbled together fashion. It has since been repressed in limited quantities on pink and brown vinyl by Alien8 and was re-released on August 26, 2014 on the bands own label, Caterpillar Records. Who Will Cut Our Hair When Were Gone Q&A. Producers Mark Lawson. When it's so easy for bands to stay behind the indie-pop curve that you'd think someone's handing out ice cream back there, The Unicorns are ahead. In fact, they're so far ahead that superficial distinction becomes virtually unnecessary they're striking at the most fundamental structure of the pop song itself. Without scrutiny, Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone, their debut album for the otherwise experimental Canadian label Alien8, can pass for the same sort of sugar-glazed jangle-pop that's been done to death, but has nevertheless been beloved for yea. Those without a stomach for a little humor in their music will surely thumb their noses, but for everyone else, this is essential listening: a whip-smart band of originals, living with death, throwing coconuts at the rest of us from greener pastures. To be sure, there is an ironic smirk clinging to much of Who Will Cut Our Hair. but there is also the subtle beatings of unpretentious sympathy and maverick potential
