Last Century Modern is the third studio album by Japanese music producer Towa Tei, released on July 28, 1999. It peaked at number 20 on the Oricon Albums Chart. Exclaim wrote that with this wonderfully eclectic third solo release, Japan's Towa Tei solidifies his reputation for creating fanciful, risky pop music. Once again, Tei assembles an impressive roster of guest musicians and gleefully watches what happens when they meet. Japanese chanteuse UA, accordionist Coba, and the Balanescu Quartet open the album with the sophisticated title track. Elsewhere on the CD, Pascale Borel, Les Nubians, and Chara add vocals, and two thirds of YMO, Harry Hosono, and Yukihiro Takahashi turn up as well.
