The Ox was, of course, a nickname of John Entwistles and one of the slightly disappointing features of Maximum As and Bs is that his fine songwriting contribution to the Who, although represented here by Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, My Wife and The Quiet One, wasnt even more prominently featured on their singles releases. The other disappointment is that although billed as The Complete Singles thats something of a misnomer. The Who continued to release singles over three-plus decades, using them as calling cards for reunions or samplers of latter-day live albums, and Maximum A's & B's collects them all, give or take a couple of variations in international markets. Having issued the four seven-inch vinyl single boxes during 20156, Universal Music now effectively present all those A and B sides and EP tracks on CD with a new The Who box set: Maximum As & Bs: The Complete Singles. This five-disc, 86-track collection from the Brunswick, Reaction, Track and Polydor labels of course includes all and every hit, along with all the B-sides, many on CD for the first time. The CDs come in separate wallets, and are housed in the familiar lift-off-lid style box that Universal use regularly see the just announced Jam box. some of the tracks (like Bucket T or Dogs) sounds like they have been mastered from a 7", huge amount of distortion (but without the pops and clicks) , Under My Thumb sounds worse than the Rarities polydor 1982/3 CD (surprisingly)

i just got this uk copy of this box set last week, its very nice and includes the same type of booklet wich explains each original uk 45 from 1964 through 2014, this is a great 5 cd box set that compiles all of the 45s that came out on 4 individual 45 replica vinyl box sets between march 2015 and august 2016, all 4 45 box sets are spread across 5 remastered cds here and you can not ask for more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great remastering, as i said my copy is the uk polydor version, there is also a us MCA copy as well but i wanted the uk polydor box set as opposed to the us mca release!!
