Формируйте собственную коллекцию записей Shows, Vol. 1 is the exciting inaugural release in a planned series of outstanding live Sonny Rollins recordings from the last 30-plus years. The seven tracks on the new CD, culled from the Carl Smith collection and Sonny Rollins s own personal soundboard recordings, were recorded in the U. Japan, France, and Sweden. What I also like on this album is that Rollins gives his long-term band mate Clifton Anderson some space to solo on More than You Know and Nice Lady. Anderson is a good trombonist, but Rollins often limits him to just playing some harmony on the opening and closing themes of songs. Read more. Four of the seven numbers on the album involve a band featuring the trombonist Clifford Anderson-Rollinss nephew, and the recordings producer-backed by a fusion guitarist and an electric bass. Its the style of the dark years of the nineteen-seventies, when classical-styled post-bebop struggled to find an audience. 1 is likely much the poorer for its having been assembled by the saxophonist and his nephew.
