Release Date: 1991 Tracklist. I've always been of the persuasion that the EPs were what cemented Slowdive as the shoegaze heavyweights that they were. Not in terms of units pushed, or in calling-card shoegaze anthemsblame the masses not the songwriting,but in terms of their sound being pushed to its transcendental conclusion. There's sheer light here. Morningrise is a marked improvement from Slowdive's debut, in that it's more lively and developed. Rather than simply carving out a mood and riding it out for a few minutes, attention to actual song craft is given a higher priority here. Though the lyrics aren't a major factor, the voices of Neil Halstead and Rachel Goswell act as extra instruments, blanketing the warm sounds. Slowdive is the fourth studio album by English rock band Slowdive. It was released on 5 May 2017 on record label Dead Oceans. The album is their first since Pygmalion in 1995. The album was preceded by the single Star Roving, which was released on 12 January 2017.
