Theres a lot of boring counterculture-nostalgia out there in the world of doom-metal, and I worried that Sedonis was going to lean too hard on her admiration for 70s rock, thus leaving metal to a side role. Luckily for all of us, I was wrong. Sweden's Lucifer are currently busy mixing the successor to 2018s Lucifer II, and have confirmed the first leg of The Third Commandment - Europe 2020 tour. Recently bought mine brand new. The store claimed it's a repress limited to 300 copies, but as far as I can tell it's identical to the original first pressing. There's no indication that my copy would be a "2019 pressing" or whatever.

Anyway, it's a great record by a great band. I also concur with previous comments. The sound is a bit muffled but I think it's got more to do with the actual production rather than the vinyl itself, for most part anyways. I also hear some weird distortions during "Izrael" in particular.

I'd rate the music 4.5/5, package 4/5 and sound 3.5/5. That gives it a solid 4/5. Highly recommended, despite a few faults.

Super record here from Lucifer. A fine line in straightforward 70s Heart and Fleetwood Mac rock, doom metal, occult rock and stoner is trodden by this band. Johanna Sadonis has a great voice, and charisma and beauty to burn - an ideal first lady. Not all the tracks are equally good, but the record as a whole is coherent and creates an enjoyable atmosphere that is slightly dark and tough, but also accessible and fun. This seems to me to be one of the better additions to occult rock, the genre that invents a movement in the 70s that never really existed. Retrospective fiction? For sure, and a good one. The recording could be better: a bit dull and muffled; typical compressed digital sound. Oh for an Ampex or Revox tube/tape machine. Nevertheless, I recommend this album. Johanna Sadonis is a singer and songwriter to watch.
