It was recorded on 29 May 1999 at the Royal Festival Hall in London, when Iona joined with the All Souls Orchestra for a unique collaboration to celebrate the band's tenth anniversary. On May 29th, 1999 IONA performed a magical concert with the All Souls Orchestra at London's Royal Festival Hall marking a return not only to live concerts for IONA but the first time they combined a full orchestra with their spiritual progressive celtic rock. My worries with this album were that the orchestra would have a prominent and invading role here. And this is fully confirmed during the Overture. A pure orchestral track just like White Sands. Cassette - Forefront Records 5246. Overview . Iona, The All Souls Orchestra. Iona's Woven Cord is probably one of my desert island albums. Soaring and evocative Celtic prog, live, with an orchestra and orchestrations were by the band members themselves. Masterful musicianship all around. I dearly wish I could have been there for it, but alas in 1999 I was a poor college student and couldn't possibly fly to London for a concert. Highlights: - The first three tracks taken together are a brilliant concert opener. Man has some of everything and may be my favorite track of the whole album.
