It is a concept album loosely based on the life of Joyce Carol Vincent, who, after dying in her London apartment, remained undiscovered for more than two years. The apparent irony of the woman, who had friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors, none of whom noticed her death for two years, gave inspiration for this albums protagonist, whose urban, digital life paradoxically isolates her from her world. from Steven Wilson. with a batch of extras and the benefit of hindsight. An album that at the time was heralded by the rock community as a major work has perhaps grown in stature after having a couple of years to mature.
