Again, taking nothing away from the project's top artist , James, Brecker, Washington Jr, along with Ralph McDonald, make this engine run. Idris shines on the title track, the Jimi Hendricks cover, Power of Soul He, and Mr. McDonald have a Hip-Hop session on that track. Otherwise, this project is way ahead of time. or should I say this project stands the test of time as far as being recorded in the 70's. Read more. Power Of Soul. Love this track. From The Album. Featuring the arrangements and keyboards of Bob James, the saxophone punch of Grover Washington, Jr. guitarist Joe Beck, trumpeter Randy Brecker, percussionist Ralph MacDonald, and the knife-edge slick production of Creed Taylor, this 1974 issue is a burning piece of deep, jazzy soul and grooved-out bliss. This album opens with Power of Soul , a great piece of kitschy horn driven soul jazz that sounds like it was lifted from a classic blaxploitation soundtrack. Bob James top notch production and arrangements on here were mining a field similar to Creed Taylor at CTI. Feels So Good is the fifth album by jazz saxophonist Grover Washington Jr. recorded and released in 1975. The album topped both the soul and jazz albums charts and peaked at number ten on the pop album charts in the U. s sublime electric funk sound. Its shimmering, soulful grooves refute the argument that smooth jazz is little more than mere ambience, combining. Power Of Soul 0:00 Piece Of Mind 7:04 The Saddest Thing 16:25 Loran's Dance 23:31. This album marked Idris Muhammad's debut as a leader and is described in the liner notes as an album that should have received warmer accolades and become a classic. I would whole-heartedly agree with this summation and add that it will certainly be one of my favourite re-releases this year. Brecker's trumpet takes over with a beautiful clarity of tone and concise ideas

I have an original version of this, still sounds great after all these years , Idris version of Lorans dance is jazz/funk perfection. mind you I like Grovers own version on Reed Seed better.

Winail
Wow!!! I was going to very gently crucify with a pin instead of a nail (smiles) at the Loran's Dance comparison and verdict but I saw the 'Jazz /Funk Perfection' declaration of Idris one and that was the escape.. More smiles. But seriously, Grover's Reed seed version is cool... Idris' one had one crucial sound in its favour, Bob James' Rhodes sound... sublime.

sounds really good to me. had no analog comparison, but i've heard the album a lot of times as stream and this seemed like i've listened to it for the first time!

Agagamand
Very decent sound quality, MOV is getting better about this but package and the quality of the vinyl is still not a match with others. It's 180 gr but very very prone to warps etc so store it properly and really away from any heat source & hotter rooms etc.

Nalaylewe
I've only given it a quick listen, and can't compare it to any other versions, but first impressions were that it sounded great.

Anybody have this pressing? How's the quality? . .
