McKeown's 2005 album, We Will Become Like Birds produced by Tucker Martine, served as a departure from her earlier work, with a more rock-oriented sound. At a September 1, 2008, concert at The Gravity Lounge in Charlottesville, Virginia, McKeown told the audience that she wrote this album in an attempt to write myself out of the worst heartache I'd experienced up to that point. Her next studio release, Sing You Sinners, was released in Europe on the 23 October 2006 and in the United States on January 9, 2007 by Nettwerk. McKeown's record, Hundreds of Lions, was released under Righteous Babe Records on October 13, 2009. Erin McKeown first gained attention as a folky singersongwriter, albeit one who crafted tunes with considerable pop music charm. Her music has expanded over the years, becoming more inclusive of styles like bluegrass, blues, jazz, classic pop, swing, reggae, and light rock. Album 2009 11 Songs. The songs themselves are discursive and self-revealing only by implication and their electro- acoustic arrangements group around McKeown's soft voice with formalistic care, as if posing for family photographs. The melodies are careful too, the tempos moderate, the vibe self-consciously communitarian. Here be piggies as well as lions. More about: Lions Music Photography Singers .
