I'd work very hard, but I'm lazy I can't take the pressure and it's starting to show In my heart, you know how it pains me A life of leisure is no life, you know. Waking up and getting up has never been easy Oh woah ah, I think you should know Waking up and getting up has never been easy Oh woah ah, I think you should know Oh woah ah, I think you should go Make a cup of tea, put a record on. I'd work very hard, but I'm lazy I've got a lot of songs but they're all in my head I'll get a gu. Album: Elastica 1994. Charted: 13. Get the Sheet Music License This Song . It was claimed that Elastica took the song's riff from The English band's 1977 hit No More Heroes. The case was eventually settled out of court. Drummer Justin Welch recalled to NME May 11, 2013: I had this bassline that was on another planet to everything else. We were really into the Stranglers then, so that keyboard line was lifted from then and popped into our own song. More songs from Elastica. More songs involved in lawsuits. More songs from 1994. Lyrics to Waking Up. Elastica's debut album may cop a riff here and there from Wire or the Stranglers, yet no more than Led Zeppelin did with Willie Dixon or the Beach Boys with Chuck Berry. The key is context. But what makes Elastica such an intoxicating record is not only the way the 16 songs speed by in 40 minutes, but that they're nearly all classics. The riffs are angular like early Adam & the Ants, the melodies tease like Blondie, and the entire band is as tough as the Clash, yet they never seem anything less than contemporary. Waking up and getting up has never been easy Whoa-whoa, you should know x2. Whoa-whoa, you should go Make a cup of tea, put a record on. I work very hard, but I'm lazy I've got a lot of songs, but they're all in my head I'll get a guitar and a lover who pays me If I can't be a star, I won't get out of bed. Whoa-whoa, you should go Make a cup of tea,. Waking Up. Song by Elastica. from the album Elastica. Waking Up is a song by the Britpop group Elastica. It was released as a single in February 1995 and reached 13 on the UK Singles Chart. It preceded the release of their self-titled debut album, which came out the following month. This is a brilliant single I still play it (cd) now. However it did contribute to my divorce. I ordered a 12" and a 7" they sent me two 7" copies. I was confronted by my (ex) wife who had found the two copies in my extensive collection who wanted to know who I had bought the other copy for. Well I still have both copies but an ex-wife. Take heed of paranoia other collectors.
