I wouldn’t say this is lazy sampling at all, like the other reviewer had stated. At the time, with the technology, getting this in time and cutting it all up, would not have been an enjoyable task and would have taken a fair time to do.

Anyway, the track does heavily sample Jazzy Dee “Get On Up”, itself a forgotten post disco classic from 1983. The source material is a very good record, it was hard to go wrong in sampling it. Capriccio essentially ups the bpm and made it relevant for the floors of 1999. They have done a very classy “disco house” remake, which still stands up today, though you can see the tape holding everything together within the track. It is very well put together and cut up, this new arrangement sounds much better than the original and gives it a more urgent feel. The bassline is something special, and is what really sets this track off, especially the contrast from verse/chorus.

I think this is truly one of the better late 90’s house tracks, that easily sits alongside the likes of “Big Love” “Red Alert” “Turn A Round” etc, but again, like the Jazzy Dee original, annoyingly it gets forgotten.

One of the few tracks that I’m surprised hasn’t had the remix treatment for 2020.
