Anything Colin does is over the top you have to listen to what he creates. From Bassist to Guitarist to engineering to infinity and beyond his talent is hard to match. Not just an avant garde or dissonant band these guys are all over the map here. This is the real standout release for me every song respectfully captures my attention. Meet Behold The Arctopus, an Instrumental Technical, Progressive chocolate box mesh of ideas that will either leave you on your bed resting comfortably, or on the floor in convulsions. This is their grand, long is the second studio album from Behold. The Arctopus, released in 2012 on Black Market Activities. This is the first album to feature drummer Weasel Walter after the departure of previous drummer Charlie Zeleny in 2009. Colin Marston bass guitar, recording, mastering, mixing. Weasel Walter drums, additional recording. Listen free to Behold. the Arctopus Horrorscension Disintegore, Monolithic Destractions and more. 6 tracks 28:16. Behold the Arctopus. Horrorscension Tracklist. Disintegore Lyrics. The Arctopus - Horrorscension review: Disappointing on almost every level, Behold. The Arctopus' latest is a jumbled mess of atonal randomness. This album is completely random and atonal, but not in a good way like much of Skullgrid, the band's previous release. The Arctopus was trying way too hard to be faster and more extreme or something, because this is effectively a bunch of unlistenable noise. Every so often something will stand out a lightning speed solo or a melody but it only lasts for a second or two, if you're lucky before disappearing into a mess of noise again. Horrorscension definitely feels like another Behold the Arctopus album, except stripped of every single element that made Skullgrid enjoyable, leaving only a hollow shell of soulless tech wankery. Yeah, it's a tired, clichéd criticism levelled by purists against anything with the slightest hint of technicality, but to me wankery can often be enjoyable. Band Name Behold. The Arctopus. Album Name Horrorscension. Type Album. Released date 23 October 2012. Labels Black Market Activities. Produced by Colin Marston. Recorded at Menegroth: The Thousand Caves. Music StyleExperimental Metal. Members owning this album3. Horrorscension' - Behold the Arctopus 510. Think of the perfect tech metal dream band a shining example of everything good and great about the style. Now, take that band, and remove everything that would make them even remotely appealing to the general public, and you might get a sense of what Behold the Arctopus sound like. Really, there's no wondering why Behold the Arctopus' second album has received such a mixed though largely negative response. The music here generally flows in a rhapsodic form, furious tech metal ideas are barraged at the listener, pummeling away for a few seconds before Behold the Arctopus move on to the next idea in line
