Album

Stardust is the twenty-second studio album by Willie Nelson, released in April, 1978. Its ten songs consist entirely of pop standards that Nelson picked from among his favorites. Nelson asked Booker T. Jones, who was his neighbor in Malibu at the time, to arrange a version of Moonlight in Vermont. Impressed with Jones's work, Nelson asked him to produce the entire album. Nelson's decision to record such well-known tracks was controversial among Columbia executives because he had distinguished. He set aside originals, country, and folk and recorded Stardust, a collection of pop standards produced by Booker T. Well, it's not entirely accurate to say that he put away country and folk, since these are highly idiosyncratic interpretations of Georgia on My Mind, All of Me, Moonlight in Vermont, and Don't Get Around Much Anymore, blending pop, country, jazz, and folk in equal measures. Willie Nelson has never been one to do the safe or expected, and this Booker T. It's also one of the better albums of Nelson's career, allowing Willie to dip his fragile, quivering tenor all around the beat in songs like All of Me and Unchained Melody. Album 1978 10 Songs. Released long before albums of jazz standards were a viable option for artists in other genres, Nelsons weatherbeaten croon and lyrical acoustic guitar sound right at home on classics like All of Me , Dont Get Around Much Anymore , and Someone to Watch Over Me. Recorded in nine days and produced by Booker T. Jones, Stardust is one of the earliest indications of Nelsons gift for brilliant reinventions. Complete your Willie Nelson collection. Willie Nelson, singer, learned his offbeat phrasing from urbane songs like these, where it still shows off best. Refusing to be hurried by the band, he strolls through All of Me and Dont Get Around Much Anymore, as wry and debonair as the lyrics. But Stardust is more than a personal history or testimonial. Its a reminder. For all the sleek sophistication of the material, Stardust is as down-home as the Legion dance. Heard coast to coast in lounges and on elevator soundtracks, these tunes have become part of the folk music of exurban America. And thats the way Nelson plays them - spare and simple, with a jump bands verve and a storytellers love of a good tale
