Ably Werwolf sought to cut across the whole spectrum with a complex and refined brand of rock music. To give a pointer to the Werwolf sound, it may be of interest that this album was recorded at Eden's studio, and is along similar lines, with lengthy complex suites. Werwolf - creation. On this album Werwolf the group still exist as Werewolf Artrock and had an album out in 2014 called 'Mystic Land' played '70s inspired progressive rock with symphonic and folk rock influences. WERWOLF - CREATION (Laser's Edge LE 1013) CD 41m
It's intriguing to note that, whilst in most countries progressive rock had been killed off by the record companies in the early 80's, in Germany there seemed to be a continual growth of new bands exploring many varieties of progressive rock from folk to symphonic. Ably Werwolf sought to cut across the whole spectrum with a complex and refined brand of rock music. To give a pointer to the Werwolf sound, it may be of interest that this album was recorded at Eden's studio, and is along similar lines, with lengthy complex suites featuring multi-guitars, keyboards, mostly on a relaxed level and typically Teutonic. The main differences with Werwolf and Eden however are in the vocals, Werwolf have only one vocalist and she sings in English with a kind of folky styling. It does surprise me however, that Werwolf's CREATION has gained the accolade of being a classic, as it does have weak moments and is at times a mite wordy. File under "enjoyable but not essential".
