Woodstock: Three Days of Peace and Music is a 4-CD live box-set album of the 1969 Woodstock Festival in Bethel, New York. Its release marked the 25th Anniversary of the festival. The box set contains tracks from Woodstock: Music from the Original Soundtrack and More, Woodstock 2, and numerous additional, previously unreleased performances from the festival as well as the stage announcements and crowd noises. Released in 1994 the same year as the definitive four-disc Woodstock box set, Woodstock: Three Days of Peace & Music , this album, may, at first glance, seem like an afterthought. Actually, it's a pretty neat compilation. Shorn of the long, indulgent jams, crowd chants, and warnings against bad acid that were an integral part of the earlier, better-known records, Woodstock Diary is a polished little gem - an alternate take on the mother of all rock festivals. Woodstock 1999 is a two-disc set that documents the Woodstock 1999 festival. It was released during October 1999, nearly three months after the event took place. The album was released on Epic Records. The set features one song from each of 32 performing artists. It also features the recording of the speech given when the fires got out of hand and the Red Hot Chili Peppers performance was paused on the last day of the festival, on the track Interlude Disc one, number 16. The following year Woodstock came into being and for a few days in upstate New York, Music, Peace, and Love ruled. Yes Nam was still being fought in Indonisia, but thousands upon thousands of our youth, and even middle-age people got together and just loved together, played together, and tried to forget the problems faced in society. After the release of the Woodstock movie and album Santana soon joined the ranks of super stars. If you haven't seen the movie, then I suggest seeing it before geting the music because there are pars of the album CD's that don't seem to make as much sense if you haven't seen the movie. This triple LP set was originally released in conjunction with the movie and therefore it's also called Woodstock: Music from the Original Soundtrack and More but it's more commonly referred to as Woodstock I. The album was very successful and reached 1 at the Billboard Pop Album charts in 1970. It was re-released as a remastered double CD album on August 12, 1994. Released date 1971.
