The music of Belgium is a cultural mix where Flemish Dutch-speaking and Walloon French-speaking traditions mix with those of German minorities and of immigrant communities from Democratic Republic of the Congo or other distant countries. Many of the major 15th- and 16th-century composers of the Franco-Flemish School-a current of vocal polyphony that played a central role in European art music of the time-were born and bred in the portion of the Low Countries that is situated in present-day Belgium. The Flemish Community is one of the three institutional communities of Belgium, established by the Belgian constitution and having legal responsibilities only within the precise geographical boundaries of the Dutch-language area and of the bilingual area of Brussels-Capital. Unlike in the French Community of Belgium, the competences of the Flemish Community have been unified with those of the Flemish Region and are exercised by one directly elected Flemish Parliament based in Brussels. In Belgium, the French Community refers to one of the three constituent constitutional linguistic communities. Since 2011, the French Community has used the name Wallonia-Brussels Federation French: Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, which is controversial because its name in the Belgian constitution has not changed and because it is seen as a political statement. The name French Community refers to Francophone Belgians, and not to French people residing in Belgium. As such, the French Community of. Most Belgians view their culture as an integral part of European culture. The territory corresponding to present-day Belgium having always been located at the meeting point of Germanic and Latin Europe, it benefited from a rich cross. Because Belgium is a multilingual country, Belgian literature is divided into two main linguistic branches following the two most prominently spoken languages in the country - Dutch and French. German is the third language in Belgium and is spoken by a small community of about 70,000 German-speakers of the German-speaking Community of Belgium bordering on Germany. The Dinner Classics series from CBS flavors your main course with the stirring sounds of classical music. Music from Debussy, Fauré, Ravel, and Satie is performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Eugene Ormandy, as well as the Cleveland Orchestra, with its conductor George Szell. Accompanying the set, which runs just over an hour, are relevant recipes from Martha Stewart. Various ClassicalCD AlbumSerenade-Times Music-TDFCL 022S-1999-VG. Genre: Classical. Migrations, an album of his work, includes A Shout, a Whisper, and a Trace, a vibrant homage to Bartok. This, the first movement, is a dizzying melting pot of folklike rhythms, droning tunes and pungent modernist harmonies, spiked with bursts of wailing jazz. The 15th-century Franco-Flemish composer Johannes Ockeghems French chansons were like the pop songs of his day
