Quynaus

Following the release of Kendrick’s most popular and decorated project to date DAMN, he brought an immense amount of hype and excitement within the hip-hop world when it was announced he was curating the Black Panther soundtrack. The released singles in the leadup to the album were well received especially All The Stars which has gained platinum status in the States.

This project as a whole is quite solid, it doesn’t contain any of the featuring artists best work, but it is still good. I recommend listening to the album, there is a wide variety of music – just about something for everyone. Standout songs: All The Stars, X, Opps and Paramedic.

The pressing quality is quite good, which seems to be the norm when it comes to Urban Outfitters releases. The bass on songs like X and King’s Dead definitely gave the speakers a work out. My copy has surface noise on the first part of Side D Track 2 (Seasons) and then disappears. It didn’t look like there was any scuffs on the vinyl, so it could be an issue with the pressing – I will investigate further. I’m a bit iffy about the translucent green wax, doesn’t really fit within the lore of the movie – a purple and gold combination would have been much more fitting. With that said, the translucent green really does look good.
