Vampire Weekend is the eponymous debut studio album by American rock band Vampire Weekend, released on January 29, 2008 by XL Recordings. The album was produced by band member Rostam Batmanglij, with mixing assistance from Jeff Curtin and Shane Stoneback. Its cover photo is a Polaroid picture from one of their early shows in Columbia University. The band's eponymous first album Vampire Weekend 2008-which included the singles Mansard Roof, A-Punk, Oxford Comma, Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa, and The Kids Don't Stand a Chance-was acclaimed by critics for its world music. Vampire Weekends self-titled debut was released in 2008, just two years after the fledgling band graduated college. Rife with catchy guitar riffs and memorable lyrics, Vampire Weekend was generally well-reviewed and launched the band into indie rock stardom. Although their afro-pop sound got phased out through Contra and Modern Vampires Of The City, this is the album where that sound and their unabashed preppiness is on full display.
