4 page booklet
Pop is the ninth studio album by Irish rock band U2. It was produced by Flood, Howie B, and Steve Osborne, and was released on 3 March 1997 on Island Records. The album was a continuation of the band's 1990s musical reinvention, as they incorporated alternative rock, techno, dance, and electronica influences into their sound. Pop employed a variety of production techniques that were relatively new to U2, including sampling, loops, programmed drum machines, and sequencing. POP entered the US charts at No 1. It also reached the top spot in the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Holland, Italy, Japan, Norway, Hong Kong, Poland, Australia, Germany, France, New Zealand, Canada, Austria, Belgium, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Argentina, Chile, Czech Rep. Iceland and Greece. In Ireland it stayed on the charts for 46 weeks The CRIA certified it Triple Platinum in Canada. Other accolades saw Pop grab a nomination for a Grammy for Best RockPop Album and being voted the No. 1 Album and Album Sleeve in the Hot Press reader's poll. U2 are al. Songs Of Experience. It has the same flavor of Discothèque, but it didnt have nearly the same impact. We wanted to make it a sexy, groovy song, said Bono. U2 headed to Miami during the middle of the Pop sessions to unwind for a few days and find new inspiration. Unfortunately, the main thing they got from the vacation was this crappy song about the city. Why they felt it deserved 62 live performances on PopMart is beyond us, but they finally put it out of its misery after a show in Miami. U2 - Pop 1997. To favorites 15 Download album. Listen album. U2 source &utm medium social&utm campaign &utm content 16976234. Pop, which turns 20 on Friday March 3, is unequivocally U2s most neglected album - virtually none of has been played live in the last 15 years - and is ultimately the venerable groups most undervalued. By U2s lofty standards, the album marked a commercial crisis, barely squeaking out platinum status in the U. and underselling its adventurous predecessors Achtung Baby and Zooropa worldwide though the PopMart tour still made a cool at 170 million at the box office
