Here's a fantastically mellow album that brings forth many of Merck's best and most inimitable qualities in 50 tight minutes: unexpected flavors, tight production details, and artwork which perfectly and cosmically matches up with what you're about to hear. The multi-talented Travis Stewart veers away from the angular styles of Machinedrum on this disc, keeping the tempo the same but adding an array of new tones and moods reminiscent of Fila Brazillia or Four Tet.

Every track features bright and energetic leads played by guitars, vibraphones, and multi-tracked violins that add a ton of surface flavor. At the same time, the edits, stutters, and delicate rearrangements of bass licks and drum hits keep the organic/synthetic balance in check. There's some great sweeping ambient interludes like "Taci", which bring the temperature back down from tracks like "Become Another Eagle", with its serene cascade of vibraphone riffs a la Steve Reich's "Music for 18 Musicians". In conclusion, nothing here but a solid lineup of instantly familiar tracks that you'll come back to settle into often, like a comfortable ol' green-'n'-black couch.

Amazingly beautiful. If you want to dream, you must get this. I make my friends listen to it, most of them usually don't like electronic music, but Living Exponentially makes them change their mind. Modern classical + cerebral rhythms, very diverse but a strong cohesion between the tracks with a solid atmosphere of fantastic and colorful imaginary world. It's a very efficient mix of Machine Drum, Syndrone, and even Manitoba (kindergarten...). If this album were a movie, it would be "Big Fish" or something... Place to imagination!

An amazing album by Mr. Stewart! He provides a heaping portion of classical rythms (which I've never heard from him), glitchy progressions (Machinedrum-like editing), and amazing movements of sound. I'm reminded of Jaga Jazzist (A World Generated...), Four Tet (Jess), classic M3rck samples (Camp Lejune), and even a little of Mike Paradinas' humorous charm (No Fun King)!
