Album

Opiate is an EP by American rock band Tool. It was produced and engineered by Sylvia Massy and former Minor Threat bassist Steve Hansgen. Released in 1992, it was the result of some two years of the band playing together after their formation in 1990. Opiate preceded Tool's first full-length release, Undertow, by a year. It is named after a quote by Karl Marx: religion. is the opiate of the masses. As of July 7, 2010, Opiate has sold 1,155,000 copies in the US and is certified Platinum by the. Opiate Tracklist. Sweat Lyrics. The very title of the album, Opiate, refers to Karl Marxs stance on religion. The rest of the art in the sleeve reminds me of what can be found in Korns 1994 self titled. Of course, Opiate came out two years before Korn. There is an assortment of shells, clips, wires, dolls, coins, etc. In the four corners are four photographs of Maynard James Keenan, Danny Carey, Adam Jones, and Paul DAmour when they were children. I may seem like Im going into extensive detail about the art production, but Im trying express a very ominous feeling created the ornamentation around the music. Before I ever. In retrospect, Opiate seems a little haphazard, but it's possible to hear the seeds of Tool's oppressively bleak, cerebral metal in such cuts as Sweat and Opiate. I love each album Tool has put out, but artistic and creativity-wise, Lateralus is the best. The single fact that one track the title track featured clues hidden in the structure of itself that led to a complete re-organizing of the album's track list makes it the best. Not only is Lateralus beautiful start to finish by itself, but if re-ordered to fit the Holy Gift way, each song leads into the next with perfect symmetry, perfect timing, and perfect harmony. I love '10,000 Days' as well, but it's very difficult to beat this album. My Top 5 Favorite Tool Albums: 5:Opiate 4:Undertow 3:AEnima 2:Lateralus 1:10,000 Days. This is album is very broad and ridiculously complex
