Happy to add this to my vinyl collection Favorite track: There are Some Remedies Worse Than the Disease. This Will Destroy You is the eponymous second studio album by American avant-rock band This Will Destroy You. It was released on January 29, 2008 through Magic Bullet Records. The vinyl version of the album was pressed on red, blue and white vinyl and contains a quote from the television series Deadwood I may have fucked my life up flatter than hammered shit, but I stand before you today beholden to no human cocksucker etched around the center label. It was originally self-recorded and self-released in 2005, and was intended to be a demo to be sold after local shows. Although it was then only available as a CD-R, the EP began to receive press mentions, including being named one of the best instrumental releases of the year by The Silent Ballet. The band soon attracted the attention of Magic Bullet Records, who repackaged the record and released it in CD format in June 2006. Young Mountain. This Will Destroy You - Young Mountain 2006. With that being something I strongly believe in doing whenever possible, it serves as inspiration and accompaniment to how I live my life. But more than that, This Will Destroy Yous debut is proof that the typical post-rock sound is not yet old and worn out, it can still be done well and enjoyably. Crammed into accessible song lengths, the band plays with a confidence and aura that most post-rock bands do not possess. The band, especially the guitarists, plays with a little more confidence and a little less contemplativeness. Magic Bullet. Continuing this trend, San Marcos, Texas natives This Will Destroy You's debut LP Young Mountain proves that when the mood is there, it doesn't need 15 minutes per song to develop. Much like Explosions in the Sky and Mono, This Will Destroy You use their instruments expertly to create a brooding anxiety that threatens to erupt at any moment. They often build in traditional instro-post-rock fashion, starting calm before growing to a dense wall of guitars and cymbals, but they never really feel bound by that formula. Young Mountain is the first EP by This Will Destroy You, first self-recorded and self-released in 2005, but repackaged and rereleased on June 6, 2006 by the label Magic Bullet Records. The EP was originally intended to be a demo to be sold after local shows, but after it began to receive positive press mentions it attracted the attention of Magic Bullet Records who contacted and signed the band. On November 4, 2016, the band re-released the album on CD and LP for its 10th anniversary through Magic Bullet Records. It also comes with a previously unreleased track from the Young Mountain sessions
