Renegade is the eleventh studio album by Irish band Thin Lizzy, released in 1981. As such, he made a contribution as a songwriter on the opening track Angel of Death. Renegade Notes Thin Lizzys 11th studio album is often considered its redheaded stepchild by fans and the band alike. The bands new guitarist, Snowy White, still wasnt fitting comfortably into the fold. So producer Chris Tsangarides over-emphasized Darren Whartons keyboard parts, resulting in a mix thats more synth-heavy than any other Thin Lizzy album. But Renegade isn't without its charms, and decades later, much of this recording has aged amazingly well. The six-minute Angel of Death opens it sounds like the score for an early-'80s science fiction movie before Scott Gorha. It is widely agreed among Thin Lizzy fans and by the band themselves that their 1981 release, Renegade, was their worst. The raw, rocking Lizzy of the past Jailbreak, Black Rose, etc. is nowhere to be found here in its place is a keyboard-heavy rock band with blatant pop leanings and a production too similar to British heavy metal bands of the early '80s.
