Original Syn 1965-2004. CD - Umbrello Records 001. Overview . Confusingly, this two-CD set is an entirely different compilation than the similarly titled Original Syn 1965-2004 double CD that came out the following year, even though most of the tracks appear on both releases. This package is the better one by a slim margin, though it's aggravatingly vague about the dates and sources of some of the cuts. Certainly most of disc one does originate from '60s recordings, including both sides of their two singles, GroundedCreated by Clive and 14 Hour Technicolor DreamFlowerman. Original Syn 1965-2004 is a music boxsetcompilation recording by THE SYN PsychedelicSpace RockProgressive Rock released in 2005 on cd, lp, vinyl andor cassette. The Syn, and their related bands who are also featured on this album, came and went in the 1960s making little impression along the way. The Syn are an English band that were active from 1965 to 1967, and then reunited as a progressive rock band in 2004. The band was founded by Steve Nardelli, Chris Squire, Andrew Pryce Jackman, Martyn Adelman and John Painter. Chris Welch, in his book, Close to the Edge: The Story of Yes wrote, The Syn were very similar to Yes in fact. It was very much a precursor of Yes. A Tide in the Affairs of Man. I picked up the compilation of the Syn today and I really am hooked on it. If you always wanted to know what the band that was around before Yes came along sounds like, this is your chance now to own this collection. The CD booklet is impressive, telling you about how the Syn was so good in England from 1965 to 1967. The new material on the 2nd disc is also good too and its really good progressive rock at its best. I recommend this CD collection to Yes fans who love the early era of Yes and for people that love 60's psychedelic music. Road To Ruin 2008, Album. Armistice Day 2007, Album. Big Sky 2009, Album.
