The Snake the Cross the Crown is an American indieAmericana band from Huntsville, Alabama signed to Equal Vision Records. Originally known as Curbside Service, the group released one album under this name, I Packed My Bags a Year in Advance, before changing to their present name. Their current name is a reference to the logo of Italian car company, Alfa Romeo. Kevin Jones' father owned a repair shop that burnt to the ground. The name is an homage to his father. They moved to Santa Barbara, California. Something happened to the Snake the Cross the Crown. Here's the deal: they put out a decent record, Mander Salis, in 2006. Then they went on the road for a year, came home, and made a good record - in fact, it might even be called a really good record. Taking a huge leap from the plaintive indie rock found on their first album, Cotton Teeth finds the Snake the Cross the Crown landing squarely in mucky country rock territory, and boy does it fit them to a tee. Aptly named, Cotton Teeth is the second album released by Indie Americana band The Snake The Cross The Crown. When you really think about it, cotton has always been something rich within the American culture. At first there were plantations with slaves that picked all of the cotton. Then, once slavery was outlawed, other means were resorted to in order to pick it. If we fastforward a few years, we see that there are today hardworking Americans everywhere that participate in tedious jobs like using machines to grow and harvest cotton. This album is for them.
