MACHINA IIThe Friends & Enemies of Modern Music is an album by The Smashing Pumpkins that was released for free on the Internet on September 5, 2000. A sequel to MACHINAThe Machines of God, it is the sixth album from the Pumpkins, though there are many fans who remain ignorant of its existence because it was never commercially released. It consists of three EPs full of B-Sides and alternate versions, and one LP being the actual album. Both MACHINA albums are concept albums. At the time the album was released it was to be the final Smashing Pumpkins studio album, but as of the summer of. Machina IIThe Friends & Enemies of Modern Music is the sixth studio album by the American alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins. It was released for free on the Internet on September 5, 2000. Plans for a standard physical release, bundled with the first part MachinaThe Machines of God, were revealed to happen sometime in 2013, but was postponed due to legal setbacks. The two albums are. Having decided that the earlier Friends and Enemies effort at getting rare songs out to the Pumpkins' fan base surreptitiously was successful, Billy Corgan organized a more formal effort with Machina II, borrowing the original tape title while revamping the contents. Twenty-five copies were made on three 10 and two 12 vinyl discs. The two 12 disc releases - the official Friends and Enemies release. Smashing Pumpkins. It was, in short, the album that was going to bring the Pumpkins back to a position that was no longer available to them: Best band in the world. So Corgan announced the band was through in May 2000 and admitted defeat, unwilling to fight the good fight against the Britneys of the world. I'd pretty much written the Smashing Pumpkins off after their severely disappointing fifth and assumed to be final album. Basically, you get the one thing missing on MACHINA I: the sound of a band playing. But there's plenty of filler in this set, too, and it's not really sequenced to be played as a continuous album. Several songs are unnecessarily repeated. And did we really need a demo version of the still-awful Heavy Metal Machine Probably not. But all these faults aside, within this collection resides an album that would have been infinitely superior to The Machines of God. The high points are high enough to erase any bad taste left by that album. A followup to Machina, and the last album from the band before their hiatus. As a final farewell, a limited pressing album was made 3x10 2LP, 5 discs total and given away to be bootlegged out among the fans. The album Machina IIThe Friends and Enemies of Modern Music is downloadable at many different websites on the web incase anyone wants it. It isn't stealing since Billy and the gang gave it to all fans for free. The CD itself has 4 sections to it. Satur9 Smashing Pumpkins could have made another CD called Machina III: Even More songs which would include this song. However thats kind of what these 11 tracks are. This song is full of distortion, which I usually don't like as you already know but it's too good for that to matter
