The Roches is the 1979 eponymous debut trio album by The Roches, produced by Robert Fripp, who also plays guitar and Fripperies a variation of his Frippertronics. Also playing on the album are Tony Levin and Jimmy Maelen of King Crimson and Peter Gabriel fame. Paul Simon had been so impressed with the sisters that he invited them to sing harmony on the song Was a Sunny Day on his album There Goes Rhymin' Simon. He helped them get a publishing deal and a record contract, and even produced one song. Nurds - The Roches. While she was jogging Lisa Campion , the daughter of the retired police officer Fabio Campion , discovered the frozen corpse of Julien , a child who disappeared 20 years police officer Simon Beauregard is then sent to Roches Noires , a village of the Tarentaise Valley, for the criminal investigation. Meanwhile, the Roches were working on their sophomore album, Nurds, a likewise prickly and challenging folk-pop album from a group whose ties to Paul Simon and the Greenwich Village folk scene probably cost them some of their potential underground following. The Roches' second album Nurds is a huge slip from the perfection of their debut The Roches and their return to that same successful Robert Fripp produced formula with Keep on Doing. The songs are decent but this doesn't compare with the Fripp produced works. However, One Season is among their finest songs and is the highlight of the album. This song takes the three highly discernable singing voices, establishes them in a pretty harmony, seperates them into a difficult to listen to, purposely out of tune chorus and then brings them back
