The Insaints were an American punk rock group from Modesto and later San Francisco, California, fronted by controversial vocalist Marian Anderson from 1988-1994. She was noted for her powerful, sexually charged and provocative live performances which frequently included on-stage nudity and sex acts. The Insaints made Bay Area headlines when Anderson was arrested for lewd conduct after an infamous 1993 performance at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, CA. Album 2004 18 Songs. Even without the eyebrow-raising aspects of Anderson's look and background, the 20-track compilation Sins of Saints is an entirely solid overview of a band whose brand of meat and potatoes garage punk was either 15 years too late or ten years too early. Co-leader Daniel DeLeon was thoroughly old-school in his influences, as shown by the covers of I'm Not Your Steppin' Stone and the Stooges' 1969 as well as the general Dead BoysAvengers three-chord feel of the songs.
