The Impressions is the debut album by the American soul music group of the same name. It produced no less than six chart hit singles, including their biggest hit, the Billboard top ten pop smash It's All Right, and the top 20 hit, Gypsy Woman. After the departure of original Impressions lead singer Jerry Butler to a successful solo career, the other original members, brothers Arthur and Richard Brooks also left. The remaining original members, Curtis Mayfield, Sam Gooden and Fred Cash, chose not. The Impressions, featuring Curtis Mayfield, are among the greatest vocal groups to leave an indelible mark on black music and culture with such hits as Im So Proud, People Get Ready, and Gypsy Woman. This collection features all of the hits the Impressions recorded for Curtom Records the label Mayfield formed in 1968, including such Curtis Mayfield penned classics as This Is My Country, Choice Of Colors, Check Out Your Mind, and Fool For You. After meeting Jerry Butler he formed The Impressions in 1956. The Impressions recorded many classics including 'We're a Winner', 'I'm So Proud', 'It's All Right', 'For Your Precious Love' and the politically-charged 'People Get Ready'.
