After the London Improvisers Orchestra and the Strings project comes the Gathering, a co-op group of London-based professional and amateur improvisers started in 1991 by singer Maggie Nicols. This studio recording from two months later features a similar group of 25 musicians performing two extended improvisations that are typical of the weekly sessions, with their distinctive mixture of voices and instruments. Also included is a three-part tribute to John Stevens featuring interpretations of his pieces, with poetry superimposed. 78 minutes - previously unissued.
