Oh what a night, to love you, dear Oh what a night, to hold you near Oh what a night, to squeeze you, dear That's why I love you so. About Oh, What a Night. If this old school slow-burning crooner seems a little too vintage to be from 1969, its because it is. The Dells originally recorded it in 1956 when it became a regional hit in their native Chicago. Unfortunately, bass vocalist Chuck Barksdale wasnt on the record, so he persuaded the group to re-record the song 13 years later. Oh, What A Night. This song is by The Dells and appears on the album Love Is Blue 1969. This song has been covered by Tracey Ullman under the title Oh, What A Night.
