The album was intended as an experiment using musical styles Brubeck discovered abroad while on a United States Department of State sponsored tour of Eurasia, such as when he observed in Turkey a group of street musicians performing a traditional Turkish folk song that was played in 98 time, a rare meter for Western music. Columbia president Goddard Lieberson took a chance to underwrite and release Time Out. Time Out - The Dave Brubeck Quartet, Dave Brubeck. Album 1959 15 Songs. Time Out. The Dave Brubeck Quartet. Джаз 1959. Blue Rondo a la Turk. The Dave Brubeck Quartet was an American modern jazz group formed in San Francisco in 1951 by jazz pianist Dave Brubeck 1920-2012. In what became known as the band's classic line-up, the band featured Joe Morello 19282011 on drums, Eugene Wright on bass, and Paul Desmond 1924-1977 on saxophone. The band remains best-known for their use of odd time signatures, and were a premier group in the cool jazz movement. They produced several standards, including Take Five and Blue Rondo à la Turk. Throughout the years, and changing line-ups, the group maintained a strong fan-base read more. Unlike most sequels, Time Further Out is a worthy successor to Time Out. Among the numbers introduced on this impressive set are It's a Raggy Waltz and Unsquare Dance the latter an ancestor of Don Ellis' Pussy Wiggle Stomp.
