Album

Fiction is the Comsat Angels' third album, released in August 1982 on Polydor Records. The album has been reissued on CD three times: in 1995 by RPM Records, in 2006 by Renascent and in 2015 by Edsel Records, with different track listings see below. The album peaked at No. 94 in the UK charts in September 1982. Fiction was less gloomy than the Comsats' previous album, Sleep No More. Frontman Stephen Fellows said of the change: I certainly didn't want to make another record as intense as Sleep No. The Comsat Angels were an English post-punk band from Sheffield, England, initially active from 1978 to 1995. Their music has been described as abstract pop songs with sparse instrumentation, many of which were bleak and filled with some form of heartache. “TURN THAT SH*T OFF—-ITS CREEPING ME OUT!!!” This is what my former girlfriend said to me as we were driving through the Fog, From Sausalito to enter San Francisco from the GG Bridge—-I wept as I told her that was THE GREATEST Compliment I had ever received in my life!!!”

We are all buried in the musical crypt of our youth and mine is Post Punk;PreGrunge (1978-1994). Like Steve Jobs, I became musically conscious in the late sixties but MY MUSIC ???? is Post Punk.

This is the BOX ???? Set you want of the Comstat Angels ???? and NO, you ain’t getting my copy #0447/2000. Like most modern artiste ????‍????, they usually flame ???? out after their third LP. Comstat Angles are no exception. I used to sneer at the Comstat Angels as old geezers trying to pass themselves as mid 90’s Grunge Rockers. Then I discovered Rhinos ???? ‘s Left of the Dial sampling which had Eye ???? of the Lens on it. That song was so intriguing that I asked the Hipper That Thou High Priest at The Beat Records for a copy of it and he foisted said used Box Set on me. He sneered, “You VILL Rock, You VILL Roll—-You have no say in Zee Matter!!!” My God, the moment I plopped the first disc into the CD player—-Aunt Em; I’m Home ????. This is First Wave Post Punk 1978-1983 and this stuff is pretty BLEAK so if you lost yer job wife or girlfriend, don’t put this stuff on!!!
