Written and recorded over three weeks in February 1977 for 4,000, it would go on to reach No. 12 on the UK charts, and has been included on many retrospective rankings as one of the greatest punk albums of all time. The sheer speed, and raw aggression of the songs bares a close resemblance to The Ramones more than to another British punk band. It's a great album for that. There's a couple misfires along the way not even The Clash could do Police and Thieves better than Junior Murvin and the anger on Career Opportunities seems overblown and misplaced.
