Missionary Recorded on a Tascam 244 cassette 4-track and mixed onto cassette. Pressed on 7 vinyl at the famous 'Porky's'. The original master tape has long since disappeared, so this is taken directly from the vinyl. There are some slight crackles on some tracks. The "sleeve" seems to be a single-sided colour photocopy, wrapped partially around the disc, with a sticker saying The bible For Dogs C.S.C.V. Records LIMITED EDITION.

Mysterious Wrench

The Bible for Dogs were a wonder to behold during their formative days as part of the industrial post-punk scene in Stoke-on-Trent during that underated, yet crucial year,1981. I was lucky enough to know the Bible for Dogs, and therefore to see them most of the times that they played, particularly at that local crucible for an almost "no-wave" level of industrial sound dissent, North Staffs Poly; the good and the great from this creative melting pot included such luminaries as the Numan Pistols, Small European Cars Coming Into The Country (All Capital Letters, Very Important!), The Ruse ( a band that The Bible For Dogs Martin "Deadly" Headly was a member of before The Bible For Dogs), Your Cultural Heritage, Nadsat Patio, The Cultural Inquiry, and Nostalgia 80, to name but a few. Only The Bible For Dogs got as far as releasing a record, other than frightening Your Cultural Heritage off-shoot, Mudguards who may have self-released the inspired "Unstrap Yourself", a song about car safety! The Eine Vunde EP is a great example of The Bible For Dogs sound; structured around Martin Headley's unmistakable basslines that are all hook from start to finish, a drum machine that thankfully sounds like a drum machine, and Kieran's atmospheric, analogue electronics, the music is still, like all great music particularly from this era, evocative of the past, the present, and the future. And what a future it felt like at the time with bands like this generating sonic possibilities that we hadn't even dreamt of yet.
