It featured two of the group's best known songs, The Shape I'm In and Stage Fright, both of which showcased inspired lead vocal performances by Richard Manuel and Rick Danko, respectively and became staples in the group's live shows. Songs start at 0,49 Fright, the Band's third album, sounded on its surface like the group's first two releases, Music from Big Pink and The Band, employing the same dense arrangements with their mixture of a deep bottom formed by drummer Levon Helm and bassist Rick Danko, penetrating guitar work by Robbie Robertson, and the varied keyboard work of pianist Richard Manuel and organist. Instead, the group hired both Glyn Johns and Todd Rundgren in an effort to expand their sound. Considered only slightly below The Bands first two albums in terms of quality, most of Frights tracks would still find themselves in rotation in live shows all the way through their career. However, the platter also showed the very first cracks in The Bands facade as sudden fame and its related demands started to creep in. Stage Fright Q&A
