DRONE HEAVEN. The Azusa Plane is but one man (Jason DiEmilio) and his lone thrumming Fender guitar, creating layers of tempered swelling guitar soundscapes. This is a budding area. And this Pennsylvania guy, well he's made quite a recording here. Revealing blurred drifts from an undulating sound that escapes a presence on earth - most often never sounding like he's hitting a single string. Imagine a LABRADFORD only concentrating on a more floating primal surge. "Implications Of Holomovement" reminds me of a howling wind from inside an abandoned church. The album's opener "Temporal Continuum" actually strums a few notes creating an echoey tone. On the whole, this album is much better than anything FSA have ever done and if you're in a record store any time soon sweep the seven inch vinyl section for the several singles released over the years. (Early CDs will be packaged in nice folded card stock sleeves).
