It is their first album released on the Kirshner Record label. The album features the hit single Jingle Jangle. That song peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The Archies are a fictitious rock band created for various Archie Comics publications. The band, formed by the main characters of the various Archie-related comics, includes lead singer and guitarist Archie Andrews, bassist Reggie Mantle, tambourinist Betty Cooper, keyboardist Veronica Lodge, and drummer Jughead Jones. By the time of Jingle Jangle 1969 - the third LP under the Archies' moniker - the original 1968 CBS-TV animated cartoon series The Archie Show had expanded to a full hour spin-off, The Archie Comedy Hour. It is here that the majority of these songs were initially aired. This multimedia approach was the brainchild of Don Kirshner, who had similar success with the Monkees until the show's cast members demanded autonomy on their records. Album 1969 12 Songs.
