Syd Barrett is a 1974 double-album pairing of Syd Barrett's two solo albums, The Madcap Laughs and Barrett, both originally released in the UK in 1970. During the summer of 1965, Barrett had his first acid trip in the garden of his friend Dave Gale, with Ian Moore and Storm Thorgerson. While on the influence of the acid, Barrett had placed an orange, plum and a matchbox into a corner, while staring at the fruit, which he claimed symbolized Venus and. The Madcap Laughs Tracklist. Terrapin Madcap Laughs starts promising with the song Terrapin the only one over 3 minutes, another more varied acoustic song about two fish in love. Octopus is one the best songs here, capturing the poppy, frenzied sound of early Floyd. The Madcap Laughs starts to go downhill in the second half, generally with boring, tuneless, acoustic songs. The album ends on a so-so note, with Late Night. While it could be viewed as another du. Listen free to Syd Barrett The Madcap Laughs Terrapin, No Good Trying and more. 13 tracks 36:25. The Madcap Laughs is an album by Syd Barrett, released on 3rd January 1970. It was his first solo album after being replaced in the band Pink Floyd by his old school friend David Gilmour. The title of the album comes from a line in the song Octopus. After leaving the group, Barrett began recording sessions with former Pink Floyd-turned-Syd Barrett manager Peter Jenner in May 1968. Although the sessions were brief, the project was abandoned for almost a year while Barrett spent much of the yea. The Madcap LaughsBarrett. By 1974, Syd Barrett had been officially MIA for three years - the blinking of an eye in modern musical terms, but a lifetime in the early '70s.
