Antal Dorati's Detroit Petrushka recorded at the beginning of the digital era, has been underrated from the start. This is really a very good recording, although the Detroit Symphony at the time has been criticized as 2nd rate and not up to the task of accurately recording Stravinsky's complex rhythm and meter changes. I do not hear this at all, and enjoyed this recording very much. Some of Dorati's tempos are slightly slower than some other recordings, but this allows for more room to breathe, and more expression.
