Highly Strung is the sixth studio album by English guitarist and songwriter Steve Hackett. Cell 151 was a minor hit from the album, and charted in the UK. Added to Hackett's band was drummer Ian Mosley, who would join Marillion in 1984. This was Hackett's final studio release for Charisma. Hackett once again handles all the lead vocals, but sounds more assured in the role than he did on Cured. This album spawned Hackett's one and only solo hit single, Cell 151, which charted in Britain. An extended version of Cell 151 was released as a 12 single, and was later included on CD versions of Highly Strung. Highly Strung'' might be one of the best albums of the 80's anyway that was my impression. It's a consistent mix of pop, rock and prog. It sounds more 'commercial' than ''Voyage of the Acolyte'' and ''Spectral Mornings'', what with that whole '80s production' thing and a few 'simple' songs. Although GTR is considered by many to be Steve Hackett's first truly commercial rock album, in many respects, Highly Strung is really his first foray into straight-ahead mainstream poprock.
