Peter Kember is an English musician and producer, born in 19 November, 1965. More usually known as Sonic Boom, and was a founding member of alternative rock band Spacemen 3. Since the disbandment of Spacemen 3 in 1991, Kember has recorded as Spectrum and . Experimental Audio Research. The two projects have existed in parallel, and recordings under both names occasionally only feature Kember. Kember's first solo album, Spectrum, was recorded in 1989. Sonic Boom's first solo turn outside of Spacemen 3, while the band was still vaguely in existence, ironically features not only Jason Pierce, but most of the original Spiritualized lineup as well, including bassist Will Carruthers and guitarist Mark Refoy, not to mention other regular cohorts as the Jazz Butcher and the Perfect Disaster's Phil Parfitt and Josephine Wiggs. Spectrum is the debut album from electronic, experimental artist Sonic Boom. The album was release in 1989, just two years before the breakup of the popular neo-psychedelic band he was in, Spacemen 3. When Sonic was working on Spectrum, he had a lot of tracks to work off of for a potential album. Spacemen 3 was beginning to work on their last studio album, 1991s Recurring and Sonic still had these handful of old, sad songs that he just wanted to release. In an interview with Rapido, Sonic explains how he ended up forming the Spectrum project along with Spacemen 3s Recurring a year later. Sonic Boom was the co-founder of Spacemen 3.
