Since he first appeared on the scene in 2009, James Shaw's work as Sigha has morphed from submerged, aquatic dubstep to sparse, haunting techno, and has only gotten darker and bleaker. His work from around 2012, including the Abstractions I-IV EP and debut full-length Living with Ghosts, pushed his experimentation further while remaining starkly club-focused. Token is pleased to announce Metabolism, the sophomore album from Sigha. The LP marks James Shaw's third release on the Token label following his singles Christ Figures and Our Father. Shaw's work as Sigha has always placed the listener at a centrifugal point that invites a clandestine hypnosis rather than an abject hysteria. Cavernous low ends fixed firmly and effectively in a mono space tether the music to the body, while exquisitely executed white noise patterns and crystalline pads warp and hiss around the stereo environment. This keen ear for distinction within the frequency spectrum acts as the central theme on the LP. Metabolism is the producers second full length, and his first since joining Token in 2015. The 12-track set is in a similar vein to his previous work, with the 12 tracks flitting between deep and intricate explorations, more forthright workouts, and clandestine cuts that shy away from easy categorization.
