Saal is a studio album by American rapper Serengeti. It was released on Graveface Records in 2013. Entirely produced by Sicker Man, the album was recorded in Bonn, Germany. The title of the album comes from the German word for room. Mosi Reeves of Spin gave the album a 7 out of 10, saying: Saal is an unexpectedly downbeat chapter in an increasingly impressive discography that will likely go unappreciated until years from now, when the world is better prepared for this Randy Newman-like bard and his. Serengeti has often tended towards extreme sadness in his music- on his last record . David Cohn ended one song by desperately screaming, We're not immortal over and over again- but it's possible that his new album Saal is his most despairing yet. Sometimes that despair is dressed up in the stories of other people or in a brittle sarcasm. Sometimes it's just lain bare over the track, raw as hell and occasionally downright uncomfortable. Saal was recorded early last year in Bonn, Germany and you can feel how the distance freed the Chicago native up to experime. Released 2013. Saal Tracklist. Karate Lyrics. While the LP release only contains the first eight songs, listed here is the tracklist containing thirteen, from the Graveface Records Bandcamp. Saal Q&A. Genre: Hip Hop. Saal isn't meant for a casual listen and is probably best played without any company around- it's serious, overstated, and unavoidably heavy. Full Review. Or consider a donation . Serengeti is a multidimensional artist that utilizes his eclectic versatility to create unconventional, political music deeply rooted in Hip Hop culture. The use of the title Serengeti is an artistic symbol of his conceptions, forged to mirror the dense lakes and jungles of the African landscape from which his name and lineage is derived. The Chicago-born talent makes music to invoke emotion and promote change, citing racial disharmony, political ostracism and personal conflict as inspiration.
