Is Seiji too versatile and competent for his own good? That is something I've been wondering about following his productions since his drum n bass years in Reinforced. He made very good drum n bass tracks similar to Paradox, he was one of the most important members in the (sadly) brief broken beat scene, he managed to have a cross genre world hit with "Vazilando", and with this Seiji eps he shows his craftmanship with uk funky and whatever bass music you like in the uk. This third one is probably the one I like most: "More of you" is a George Fitzgerald lost tune (arpeggios, quirked vocal sample, pitched keyboards, everything) with a powerful bassline that maybe finish too soon after the climax of the song, and "Sticks" is a fun uk funky song with a microhouse attitude to it (the attention to detail in the rhythm construction is overwhelming) and which turns into a fun Rinse single. Both tracks were well recieved and played by lots of djs but... maybe Seiji has lost his personality? Both tracks (and the ones in Seiji1) are very very good, but there isn't something that tells you that it is a Seiji production like it happened with his colaborations with Swell Session or his remixes. Or even "Vazilando". It's great that he's still producing a lot and djing a lot, but somehow, sadly, he has become a bit generic. Anyway, great pair of tracks.
