Sandy Bull was a composer and accomplished player of many stringed instruments, including guitar, pedal-steel, banjo and the middle-eastern oud. Sandy Bull's music and recordings are characterized by his blending of non-western instrumentation and improvisational traditions with the 1960's folk revival. I've been playing this 9 track CD over the last week or two and am very pleased with how varied and uniquely hypnotic it all sounds. Electric Blend' is wonderful, lengthy track, originally taking up one side of the 1968 LP E PLURIBUS UNUM and it opens proceedings. It's a great album by a great artist, although it's not very different from the Vanguard Sandy Bull 'Re-Inventions' CD. What I didn't like was that the CD was slightly damaged due to inferior packaging.
